Canoeing and Kayaking
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a 740 mile waterway linking 22 rivers and streams and 56 lakes and ponds, including Lake Memphremagog. It follows the traditional east-west water routes used by Native Americans and early settlers in the Northern Forest Region, from the Adirondacks to Northern Maine.
The Trail links communities and wild places. It passes through hills and mountains, forests, farmlands and village centers, offering canoeists and kayakers a lifetime of paddling destinations and adventures. Overnight lodging ranges from primitive campsites, to lovely inns, with overnight options roughly every 15 miles.
